Theme issue uses "boost" concept to guide visuals

The Indiana University Alumni Association (IUAA) was one of the first alumni organizations in the country to launch career services. As part of the launch effort, the entire feature well of its magazine was dedicated to the launch. The articles covered a broad range of editorial. My job as art director was to bring it all together in a single theme.

I worked with Stephen Swintek on the cover design. Working from the visual concept of “boost,” Swintek created a metaphorical launch of an alum’s career.

To create the interior spreads, graphic designer Matt Shoemaker and I located a conceptual illustrator on iStock.com. Working from a base set of illustrations, we added colors, textures, and other elements to tie everything together and to match the concepts in each story.
